Brady Historical Documentary
The Brady Street historical documentary is filming all over the street! Sean Kafer, Program Director of docUWM, and students have been talking with several important businesses and community leaders, including Zaffiro’s, Bert & Linda Stitt (the original Brady Street Days organizers in the 1970s), Glorioso’s, and the beloved Father Tim. More interviews will be conducted in March, April, and May before the semester wraps up. Interviews and filming will continue in the summer and again in the fall.
We are looking for someone in the neighborhood who may have historical information about the tanneries that used to be by the river. If you have information or know someone we should talk with, please email Rachel.
The goal is to have the documentary completed by early 2024 for submission to the Milwaukee Film Festival as well as other festivals around the country. All filmed footage will be put on a hard drive and donated to the Milwaukee Public Library’s archive for future review and use.
We are now accepting tax-deductible donations through the Brady Area Foundation for Arts and Education, the BID’s 501(c) 3 entity. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so electronically here. If you would like to make a donation larger than $1,000, please contact Rachel. All donations will go to the production and marketing of the documentary. The BID will not be receiving any payment, nor will the BID’s executive director, for this project. Any remaining funds will be donated to Cass St School and Tamarack School. A completed budget will be made available at the end of the project.

From our partner, Almost Home Cat Rescue
Almost Home Cat Rescue Cat of the Month: FLYNN
Flynn came to Almost Home all the way from Minnesota! He is now in the loving arms of his foster family, learning to be brave and come out of his shell. Flynn can read the energy in a room like a top-notch psychic, and he feeds off good, calm vibes. A slow approach will signal you are trustworthy, and you can build an awesome loving relationship with him! He loves eating Tiki Stix and crunchy treats! He will seek out pets and cuddles once he knows he can trust you. Earning Flynn’s trust and love is worth every second of patience you give him!
Flynn is curious and cautious. He will eat treats from your hand, and he will cuddle with you when you sleep. He enjoys having calm kitty roomies, and with a gentle introduction, he would like to have a feline friend or two! He likes interactive toys, laser pens, and crinkle balls!
If you’re interested in adopting Flynn, please fill out an application.
