A high-end sneaker and streetwear store, Ground Up MKE, is open on Brady Street.
Ground Up MKE is run by 18-year-old friends Ben Lenikman and Kameron James. The pair met selling and swapping sneakers around Milwaukee mostly through Facebook and Instagram.
The sleekly designed store at 1237 E. Brady St. has shelves full of sneakers from brands like Nike, Adidas, Yeezy and Supreme. Prices range from $100 to around $2,000 for exclusive or rare pairs.
Ground Up also sells T-shirts, hat and other clothing items from brands like Chrome Hearts and Bape. The store also sells skate decks.
“It’s OK to come here and just look around, too,” Lenikman said. “I know some people are afraid of coming in and not buying anything. We’re more about having an experience when you come in.”
