DESCRIPTION:The popular Brady Beach street activation is back for its fifth season\, and its programmers have announced that its first event of 2024 will be a collaborative effort to encourage a massive neighborhood cleanup ahead of a busy summer for the City of Milwaukee. Local tavern owners Mike Eitel and Mike Lee have teamed up with the Brady Street BID and a few key sponsors to provide volunteers with an exciting way to get out and celebrate the spirit of Earth Day by cleaning up and partying afterwards—all while raising money for the nonprofit organization Clean Wisconsin and the group Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful. \nCheck-in for volunteers begins at 1 PM\, and they will be supplied with gloves\, bags\, and a map of the general area to scour along with dumpster locations. The cleanup runs until 5 PM and features plenty of rewards for hardworking volunteers. DJ Marcus Doucette will be mixing up 4/20 vibes on the turntables\, Barrel Burrito Co. will be offering the do-gooders samples of its burrito bites\, and each participant will also receive a ticket to try to win from a selection of donated items. \nIn addition\, volunteers over the age of 21 will receive wristbands entitling them to a free beverage\, compliments of event sponsors like Mijenta Tequila\, Tito’s Handmade Vodka\, and local favorite Lakefront Brewery. Participants will also raise money by donating at the check-in tables or by purchasing certain beverages from participating Brady Street bars that will donate a portion of those sales. \nBrady Beach is located between Nomad World Pub and Club Brady at the intersection of Warren Avenue and Brady Street. The two taverns have worked with the City of Milwaukee since the summer of 2020 to create an amenity that acts as a dining area\, an outdoor event space\, and a meeting point for locals and visitors alike. It offers a bit of respite as well as some elbow room for folks visiting Brady Street from spring through autumn. \n“Mike Lee (owner of Club Brady) and I thought this event would be a creative and productive way to kick off another season of the Brady Beach\, while also celebrating Earth Day and providing some fun for the neighbors who’ve been cooped up all winter\,” said Nomad owner Mike Eitel. \n3rd District Alderman Jonathan Brostoff is a big fan of Brady Beach’s impact on business\, stating\, “The Brady Beach has made the area safer and more pedestrian-friendly\, and now they are literally cleaning up the street. DESCRIPTION:On Thursday\, June 23 the Brady Street BID will be holding the first Great Brady Street Bike Race: Benefitting ADHD America in coordination with Tour of America’s Dairyland. This family-friendly and community-engaging event will bring racers from around the world to Brady Street to compete on a race path described as “brutal” by those in the know. In addition to the traditional races there will be the Valentine’s Coffee kids race (it will not be brutal)\, and the brand new Tarbender 200 race that will include some of Brady Street’s most popular bartenders and regulars. At the conclusion of The Great Brady Street Bike Race the BID invites you to participate in the evening’s bar crawl\, featuring bars and restaurants that participate in the Tarbender 200. This event is the perfect opportunity for residents to hold parties in front yards\, or for businesses on the race route to throw viewing parties. The Brady Street BID is very excited to host this event and bring our neighborhood some much deserved fun! Check out the race schedule below. The Brady Street BID appreciates that this event will close streets in the area for the day and that this will require working with our neighborhood residents. The BID will be holding a community meeting (date to be determined) and distributing flyers at least twice to all residents in the area. Residents within the race zone will be asked to move their cars outside of the race zone before 8:30am on Thursday\, June 23\, and street will reopen by 10pm Thursday evening. An access road will be made available at E. Hamilton Street that will allow cars to move in and out of the race zone in between races. \nDASHERBOARD and JUMBOTRON ads are available for a tax-deductible donation. \nVOLUNTEERS WANTED! \nInterested in being a part of the fun? Join us in making Brady St history by volunteering at the first ever Great Brady Street Bike Race. \nEach volunteer commitment entails a 2-hour investment of your time. Activities will include: managing crosswalks\, intersection barriers\, and course setup and take down. Each volunteer receives a t-shirt\, 2 drink tickets\, and a plate of food from Nomad Pub’s pig roast. \nSIGN UP HERE!
